Santa Marta's 5 Day Weather Forecast Doesn't Change Much During The Year

The 5 day weather forecast from Monday May 16 to Friday May 20 shows temperatures of

  • 91˚F/35˖C Monday
  • 90˚F/35˖C Tuesday
  • 90˚F/33˕C Wednesday
  • 91˚F/33˓C Thursday
  • 91˚F/33˓C Friday
During the week there is a possibility of thunderstorms ranging from 30 to 40 percent and if it does rain it comes down heavy for a little while then it's all over, it doesn't take long for the streets to dry out and life returns to normal. Basically, the climate is very good although it's nice to have shade, in the sun all day can be exhausting but if you find a nice shady spot with a table and possibly a waiter the heat is so much more bearable.

Average temperature varies from 27˚C to 35˚C or 80˚F to 95˚F throughout the year. Wind velocity of 2 to 9 MPH, the prevailing winds are from the northeast and are the trade winds. At night the breeze picks up a little which makes for beautiful evenings for sitting outside in a light shirt. The landforms of the the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta along with the Andes Mountains to the south modify any winds coming from the southerly direction.

The average temperature during the year for Santa Marta varies.

  • High temperatures 88˚F/32˚C to 92˚F/33˚C and

  • Low temperatures 70˚F/21˚C to 77˚F/25˚C

The warmest month of the year is March and the coldest month is January
The month with the highest rainfall is October.

The longer your in Santa Marta the less the 5 day weather forecast makes a difference, it could be 3 or 6 days but it's always the same, it's going to be warm or hot, sunny with some clouds but clouds or not it's still bright as the location is only 11˚ from the equator.

The record low for January 1 was a frigid 73˚F or 23˚C recorded in 1997, I'm from Canada and that's considered a heat wave, people are in shorts and sweating, some don't like it because it's too hot, of course, that won't be Canada in January though but June or July and people will be counting the days until summer is over. It Doesn't take long until the snow is flying again. I love snow too, can't get enough of looking at it, especially from the other side of a good pair of binoculars, you see, in Santa Marta I can be up to my waist in water in January on one of the beaches and I can still see lots of snow in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. What a concept, makes me feel at home.

These days I'm not worrying about driving on icy highways at frigid temperatures for a good part of the year going from one bad location to one even worse. Back in the past the 5 day weather forecast was important but I fear no more.

So there you have it, every day I count my blessings for being in Santa Marta enjoying great weather and a low stress life, and of course always enjoying my telephone conversations with friends and family back in my former home country.

If I did it you can do it too, it's never too late to begin a new life and to enjoy one of the best climates in the world.
