Beach Party in Santa Marta Back To Basics Live Bands, Great Music And Dancing
Beach party celebrations are a common theme in Santa Marta and along the Caribbean coast, with more holidays than most countries Colombians are always ready to celebrate and to help visitors join in too. This is outdoor recreation at its finest with plain old beach fun no different than years past. Now it’s your turn to relax and let other people look after the details, and since they do it all year it’s not really a problem. As the evening warms up to the many bands and the diversity of music everyone eases into party mode and are soon ready for some serious dancing and fun, all are welcome and encouraged to join in. North Americans spend 90% of their time indoors, you won’t find that being the case on the Caribbean coast as the weather is so pleasant all year. The best beaches to join in on a party would be El Rodadero where on a normal night there are bands playing and music everywhere, during the holidays it’s wall to wall people with entertainment from one end of the beach to the other. The necessities - Hat
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Sandals, the beach sand can get hot.
- Your favorite beach wear.
- Some cash for beer, drinks and food.
- If there’s a show on the beach and you enjoy it, money for a tip.
- If you don’t bring along your own music the bands will eventually show up.
- There are plenty of beach chairs available for rent but if you don’t want to hmm, I wonder where you could sit.
During these beach parties you will always find a police presence, just make a mental note as to where they are stationed, they are there for your security and are not there to shut the party down. It’s best to get started with a few drinks to help relieve your nervousness, there are some dances that form a large circle where you end up in the middle with only you and your partner. You have to be ready for that. Careful if you are drinking beer, sometimes there is the local aguadiente that is passed around so think about how your head is going to feel the next day. If you are traveling alone, remember to be a bit cautious and stay under control at all times and don’t bring all of your money, passports etc. with you. Thieves pick on the vulnerable and the easy targets. I have never had a problem over many years and I think it is overstated but a little caution always works in your favor.
