News from April 7, 2010
The first confirmed siting of the Santa Marta Sabrewing (hummingbird) in over 60 years. The photo was taken by Laura Cardenas at about 6,200 feet at El Dorado Reserve. http://sayitaintsoalready.com/

To get to some of these locations takes some planning and resolve yourself to accept a little discomfort at times due to rough roads or isolation, but if there was a 4 lane highway to these places there probably would not be any birds to see or trees for the birds to live in.

Traveling around the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is a great adventure and you just can't beat Colombian people who are truly friendly and helpful and always creative when you need to get something done.
