Carlos Vives Vallenato Fusion Multiple Grammy winner
Carlos Vives is a singer born in Santa Marta August 7, 1961 who plays the sounds of the Caribbean, Pop, Rock, Vallenato mixed with Rock, although born on the Caribbean coast spent his teen years in Bogota, Colombia. Who can understand why the twists and turns of a persons life can bring him or her to fame but Carlos Vives is now considered to truly represent the music of Latin America. In 1991 he took an acting role starring as Rafael Escalona in a movie called Escalona, a famous Vallenato composer, the success of this role and the influence Vallenato had on him prompted a shift in musical direction towards a mix of rock and Vallenato that was to give him his unique place. His music is in Spanish, his belief is that Spanish artists should not sell out to the American mainstream and sing in English, their music is better served in their native Spanish. Winner of 1 Grammy in 2002 and 3 Latin Grammys, he is a top Latin American artist and promoter of Vallenato music. He has been a good ambassador for Colombia spreading the sounds of Colombia throughout the world. This is probably his most famous song (Video) La Gota Fria
