Cheap hotel rooms close to the beach are abundant in Santa Marta and the surrounding area, hotel rates are low but the fun per dollar ratio is high. Spend time in a restaurant or laying on the beach instead of in a cab or on a bus. It can all be so uncomplicated, get your things together, walk out the door, walk down the street and your at the beach, repeat as often as required.

Most of the cheap hotel rooms are just down the road from the beach.

These towns are great for wasting time and lazing away the day.

El Rodadero has that resort town feeling with lots of small bars and pubs, the beaches can get crowded though. This area is secure, there are always police and soldiers around the beaches and on the streets, they blend right in though, are friendly and in no way intimidating. Cheap hotel rooms are a little more money but generally the hotel rooms are newer and the higher hotel rates are worth the price to be close to such a nice beach.

Santa Marta is the gateway to Tayrona Park, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the town of Minca and further east towards Venezuela, there is a lot to see , you could explore for years. Cheap hotel rooms are not hard to find but you have to walk across the avenue to get to the beach, hotel rates are better and there is more history but the location isn't as good.

Taganga is a hang out for backpackers, scuba divers and adventurers who are always on the lookout for cheap hotel rooms. I'm sure there have been many hours of animated conversation about adventures recently completed. If your young you can have big fun here for little money. What I like is that if you live like the local people you won't spend much money and you won't feel deprived either.

When I travel I usually look for cheap hotel rooms in a good location, I don't need a luxury hotel on the beach, actually the resorts on the beach are a bit out of the way for me as I usually have a project list.

Any time of year is good as far as the weather is concerned as it will be either warm or hot but during high season your choice of cheap hotel rooms may be limited and the hotel rates are higher.

Cheap Hotel Rooms in El Rodadero West to East

In my opinion, there is no such thing as cheap hotel rooms, they all cost too much, and the area of Pozos Colorados and west towards the airport has some very nice hotels even though they are not on the beach so be prepared to pay more.
