There are many choices for clothes shopping in Santa Marta, or if you would like to go out for a day or two Barranquilla is only 2 hours away and Cartagena is about 4, I shopped with my daughter in Cartagena and she was simply amazed at the quality, selection and price of the clothing.

The central downtown area of Santa Marta is a good place to shop, there are some good prices but you can easily overpay if you are not sure what you want. Shopping in Santa Marta is diverse, with everything available from specialty shops to local marketplaces.

El Rodadero, about 7 km from Santa Marta has some nice shops, the downtown area is not very large so there are many areas if you would like to sit down at a restaurant or bar and have a drink or something to eat.

There are a lot of reasons to shop, one is to dress up for one of the many tropical fiestas that seem to be happening for any occasion, that way you can look local.

If you are looking for items like shorts and T-shirts you can find them at many of the local stores or on the beach. and also you will see them carried around by the beach vendors, you can bargain for these items. There are also Caribbean themed items that is easy to take back home and won't be broken when it arrives.

At Ocean Mall you will find several local and national boutiques.

Buena Vista shopping mall in Santa Marta has many fine shops and out of the Santa Marta heat.
