Canine friendly beaches can be found throughout the Santa Marta and the El Rodadero areas along the Caribbean coast. There are no restrictions on your pet other than you pick up anything left behind. What could be better than to go on a vacation with your best friend and to be able to spend time on the beaches together. These beaches are right downtown, not way out in the middle of nowhere and there are no leash restrictions, your dog can be free. The world is not just for people, dogs and other animals add so much to life, why live in a sterile world where there is only people, we need to share with animals. Colombia is a great country for this, the traditions, you still see donkeys and horses pulling carts on the road, what's wrong with that? Now if there is one incident in North America there are total restrictions on the animals. I have walked the streets of Santa Marta and have never had a problem with stray animals, there are no dog catchers, many dogs live on the streets and live a good dog life, the dogs are fine on the streets and do no one harm and they are interesting to observe living their independent lives. Modern times have brought with it a hay day for pencil pushers, lawyers and lawmakers, always quick to add more restrictions to your already overcomplicated life, in Santa Marta things get less complicated, it all just makes more sense. This is what you call a real Caribbean swim without all of the restrictions, there are many miles of beaches that say welcome to you and your pet and would even be welcome at the beach parties going on at night. So don't worry, have yourself a great time with your buddy, like you your pet will feel welcome and will be able to enjoy the freedom he or she was meant to have. Colombians are an understanding people and like to see everyone enjoy themselves. The beaches are beautiful and when there it's nice to have your pet with you to share in the good times.
