If a bid on a ticket is won there are no refunds so be sure of what you are doing, its good to have dates and plans thought out and laid out as in the heat of the moment you may end up buying something that you don't really want.

To get to Santa Marta
The best way is to fly to either Cartagena or Barranquilla if flying from the United States or Canada. Bogota is an added 800 miles so once there a trip back to get to the coast is necessary. The advantage of Bogota is that Santa Marta is only about an hour away and have only a short cab or bus ride to your hotel. From Europe, Asia or Africa, Bogota is probably the best option as it is the hub of all travel within Colombia.

For car rentals in Colombia, the driving culture is different and for a foreigner probably not a good idea, a cab is less expensive than to rent a car plus the fact that for your own safety and security you are better off in a cab. From what I have seen on the roads in Colombia, drivers take chances and drive with aggression. Getting lost in an area that you shouldn't be is another reason.

It is now possible to bid on Priceline from Canada for plane tickets, hotels, cruises and car rentals but flights must be in the United States, so it's not possible to fly out of Canada but only back to Canada.
