Restaurants In Santa Marta Serving Great Coastal Caribbean Dishes.Santa Marta and El Rodadero have a good range of specialty restaurants and their own local style of fast food outlets. Sea food is common and a specialty of the area. Regional dishes of Colombia are also typically available throughout the city and are not confined to just certain parts of the country. All the photos added are my own so blame me for the photography. My favorite place to eat is in El Rodadero as everything is within close walking distance and I personally like this little city more than any place that I have ever been but things are changing along the beachfront in Santa Marta, a major improvement and I have to say either El Rodadero and Santa Marta are good places to spend time or in my case waste time. Santa Marta has a very good range of restaurants and you will probably find the best prices on your meals here. Where to find lunch for around $2.00 Rio Bonda (At the Bonda River)

The fruit juices will be mixed with either milk ar water, whatever your preference may be. I have tried these in the juice bars at the larger food stores and have never had any stomach problems, in fact, I have never had stomach problems ever in Colombia. In the 2 major malls, Buenavista and Ocean Park you will find fast food restaurants that are more North American style, these are relatively expensive compared to the food at the markets or from a street vendor. They sell the typical burger and fries along with soft drinks. Some of the larger food stores in the city will have cafeterias, and are good places to eat, you can point at what you want and they'll put it on a plate for you. This is a bonus if you struggle to speak Spanish. The food is the equivalent of what you would find in Canada as far as cleanliness of preparation, of course, the quality of the fruits and vegetables are much better in Colombia as they are grown right in the back yard and don't have to be a certain hardy variety or picked green to cope with both long voyages or length of time in transit.
