Royal Caribbean Now Stops at
the Beautiful Port of Santa Marta.

Royal Caribbean (Carribean), Holland America, Norwegian and many more cruise ship lines are now making Santa Marta one of their ports of call. And who can blame them, it's got everything and more. If you've considered a cruise, this is a great time to explore tropical Santa Marta and it's diverse region.

  • Jungles
  • Beaches
  • Mountains
  • Parks, 10% of Colombia's land surface is designated parkland

Santa Marta is rich in history and nature, ecotourism is growing, and the weather is great all the time.

After a few days on a boat it's great to take a walk and work off those sea legs and you won't find a better place than Santa Marta.

  • Small city
  • Inexpensive
  • Plenty to keep you occupied
  • Buses and taxis are cheap
Stop for a break at a restaurant, there's true competition in Santa Marta so the prices are low. You can find museums, movie theaters that play the latest Hollywood movies in English with Spanish subtitles at affordable South American prices, beaches are close by or if you have time you can head for the hills and climb to 19,000 feet into the snow if you get really bored.

One thing you will notice right away when you arrive is that the multinationals don't own all the prime locations on the beachfront so the natural beauty shines right through.

The area is a safe destination for travel, most places you can go to but not all, but that's not so different than everywhere else.

So welcome to South America there is a uniqueness, a slowness, a different attitude, productivity? who cares, being on time? well close is good enough, and that's why I like it here.

Trees grow everywhere in Santa Marta
